Annis May Shores, born 11 Feb 1989 Loa, Wayne Co., Utah, married 1 Mar 1920 Boise, Ada Co. ID, Iverson Mason Dodge who was born 3 Jun 1893 Lexington, Lafayette, Missouri

A descendent of Baxter Dodge (NY) line wrote us the following: While browsing the Dodge Family History site, I ran across the picture of Iverson Mason and Annis May Shores Dodge. Being unable to resist a mystery especially when it comes to the census records, I just couldn't help myself.

Iverson was the son of George H. and Rosie Dodge. The family can be found in the 1900 census under the name "Dody, George H." on Ancestry.com census index or under the name "Dodys, George H." on the Godfrey Memorial Library (godfrey.org) census index. Iverson is listed with an older brother Clay H. Dodge.

On the 1910 Lexington, Lafayette, MO census "Rosy" is the head of household and a widow. Clay is still living at home, but Iverson is not listed. It is possible that the 17 year old Massie Dodge in Jackson county MO is Iverson Mason Dodge. He seems to be apprenticed out to an electrician. Jackson is just next door to Lafayette and Massie is the right age and born in MO.

In 1920 Herbert Clay Dodge is living with his mother, Rosie Mullrenin -apparently widowed again - in Parsons, Labette, Kansas. No amount of creative research led me to the where abouts of Iverson. We know he married Annis Shores in March of 1920 in Boise, Ada, Idaho. Annis' parents are living in Canyon county Idaho in 1920, but in January of the same year Annis is living in Union county Oregon where the family had lived earlier. I cannot locate Iverson in either area or anywhere else for that matter.

In 1830 Iverson and Annis are living in Nampa, Canyon, Idaho and have 2 children. This time I cannot find Clay or Rosie anywhere. Rosie would be about 71 years old and it is likely that she may have passed away, but Clay would be about 44 years old.

Iverson's father, George H. Dodge, was listed on the 1900 census as being born Aug 1845, 55 years of age, and married for 15 years. The 15 years would put his marriage date in 1885. Several of the censuses list his birth place as Iowa, so I'm sure he probably belongs to an Iowa branch. And since Iverson's brother's name was Herbert and his son's name was Herbert, I would not be surprised if his father was George Herbert, but the dates don't seem to match for the George Herbert born and died in Iowa. I bet they have a common ancestor though. I'm thinking that Iverson's father probably died in Missouri, especially since the family was still there in 1910.

Can you can help us place this Dodge?
