Wilkie Dodge of Flushing Queens County on Nasau [sic] Island
Queens County on Nasau [sic] Island

In the Name of God Amen on the 13th day of February in the Year of our Lord 1752 I Willkie [sic] Dodge of Flushing in Queens County on Nasau [sic] Island and province of New York Shipwright being sick and Weak in Body but of perfect mind and memory thanks be given unto God therefore calling unto mind the mortality of my Body and knowing it is appointed for all Men once to die do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament that is to say principally and first of all I give and Recommend my Soul into the hands of God that give it and my Body to the earth to be buried in a Christian like and decent manner at the discretion of my Executors nothing doubting but at the General Resurrection I shall receive the same the same again by the mighty power of God and as touching such Worldly estate wherewith it hath pleased God to bless me in this life I give devise and dispose of the same in the following manner and form Imprimiss it is my will and I do order that in the first place all my just debts and funeral charges be paid and satisfied. Item I give to my first son Samuel a certain Lot of Land lying on Cowneck near the Land of my Father joyning [sic] to the Creek to him his heirs and assigns with this condition that whenever he they or either of them shall think fit to convey the sd. Lott [sic] the possessor of the Land adjoyning [sic] which is now my Fathers property shall have the first Refusal of the same together with the sum of one pound to be raised and levied out of my estate. I likewise order that in the next place all my remaining estate both Real and Personal be sold except such goods as I shall hereafter mention. I give to Mary my dearly beloved Wife all her wearing apparel a chest of drawers my best bed and furniture an oval Table four chairs a half dozen knives and forks all my Linnin [sic] a Tea Kettle with all the ware thereto belonging a pepper mill an Iron pott [sic] Kettle and Trammel Shovel and small tongs Smoothing Irons a half dozen pewter plates a platter a frying pan a Sauce pan a Linnin [sic] Wheel a Warming Pan a Bason [sic] and a side saddle being the things above excepted together with the Sum of one hundred and Fifty pounds in Monies to be raised and levied out of my estate. Item I give to my beloved daughter Sarah a half dozen Silver Spoons her Mother having the use of them till she be of age or married. Item I give to my youngest son Jesse a pair of Silver Shoe Buckles & Knee Buckles a pair of Gold Sleeve Buttons with my glass Bowl and as for the Remainder of the Money arising from my estate it is my Will that it be equally divided between my children but if either or any of them should die under age or without Issue the Money to be divided amongst the rest of my children. I also make constitute and ordain my Father Samuel Dodge with my Brother Samuel Dodge to be my Executors and my loving Wife Mary to be my Executrix. And I do hereby utterly disalow [sic] Revoak [sic] and Disannull [sic] all and every other former Testaments Wills Legacies and Executors by me in any ways before this time named willed and Bequeathed Ratifying and confirming this and no other to be my last Will and Testament. In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and Seal the day and Year above written. Willkie [sic] Dodge

Signed sealed published pronounced and declared by the said Wilkie Dodge as his last Will and Testament in the presence of us the Subscribers Silas Lawrence, Frances Field, William Roe.

Queens County

Be it Remembered that on the thirteenth Day of June in the Year of our Lord Seventeen hundred and fifty two at Jamaica in Queens County personally came and appeared before me Samuel Clowes Junr. being thereunto duly Authorized. Silas Laurence [sic] and William Roe two of the Witnesses to the within Will being duly sworn on their oaths severally declared that they did see Willkie [sic] Dodge deceased in his life time sign and Seal the within Instrument and heard him publich [sic] and declare the same to be and contain his last Will and Testament and at the time thereof he was of Sound disposing mind and memory to the best of their knowledge and Beliefe [sic] and that they severally Subscribed their names as Witnesses to the said Will in the presence of the Testator and of each other and they also on their oaths aforesaid declared that they did see Frances ffield [sic] the other Witness Sign his name as a Witness thereto in the presence of the aforesaid Willkie [sic] Dodge.

George Clinton Esqr. Captain General and Governour of the province of New York and Territories thereon depending in America Vice Admiral of the same and Admiral of the white Squadron of His Majesty?s Fleet. To all to whom these presents shall come or may concern Greeting. Know Ye that at Queens County at the thirteenth day of June last before Samuel Clowes Junr. Esqr. being thereunto delegated and appointed the last Will and testament of Willkie [sic] Dodge deceased ( a copy whereof is hereunto annexed) was proved and now approved and allowed of by me the said deceased having whilst he lived and at the time of his death Goods Chattels and Credits within this province by means whereof the proving and Registring [sic] the said Will and the granting administration of all and Singular the said Goods Chattels and Credits and also the auditing allowing and final discharging the Accompt [sic] doth belong unto me. And that Administration of all and Singular the Goods Chattels and Credits of the said deceased and any way concerning his Will was granted unto Samuel Dodge Samuel Dodge Junr. And Mary Dodge the Executors in the said Will named being first duely [sic] affirmed well and faithfully to Administer the same and to make and exhibit a true and perfect Inventory of all and singular the said Goods Chattels and Credits and also to render a just and true accompt [sic] thereof when thereunto lawfully requested. In Testimony whereof I have caused the Prerogative Seal of the province of New York to be hereunto affixed this Sixteenth day of August one thousand Seven hundred fifty two. Geo. Banyar Dsecry
