Elaine Dodge Davidson, a 50-year resident of Delmar, a 7-month resident of Child's Nursing Home, a retired music teacher and a native of Callicoon, died Tuesday, July 4, 2000, at the Albany Medical Center from complications following a stroke in January. She was 83 years of age.

The daughter of the late Walter Lloyd and Laura Albright Dodge, she was born May 17, 1917, in Callicoon. She was the widow of F. William "Bill" Davidson who died February 14, 1985.

A graduate of Callicoon High School Class of 1934 and the Eastman School of Music, University of Rochester, in 1938, she taught public school music for five years. Mrs Davidson was an accomplished piano player. She spent the war years at Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi, Miss., where her husband was stationed. Before and after the war, Bill worked as a newspaper and AP reporter. He retired from the position of Executive Director, NYS Thruway Authority in 1978.

Mrs. Davidson was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Delmar and worked with the youth choir there. She was also a member of the Delmar Progress Club and a member of the Bethlehem Senior Citizens.

She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Richard Dodge and Judy Carey Davidson, and their children, Chris, Scott and Julie, all of Altamonte Springs, Fla., and Thomas Lloyd and Nancy Kaczor Davidson, and their children, Mark and Ellen, all of Slingerlands; two cousins in Pennsylvania and several nieces and nephews in Ohio. She was predeceased by a brother, Gerald Dodge.

Services were held Thursday at the Applebee Funeral Home in Delmar.

Burial will be made in the Dodge family plot in the Methodist Section of the Callicoon Cemetery in Callicoon at 1 p.m. on Saturday.
