Searching for ancestors of JOSEPH DODGE, England. His parents were involved in removal and storage of furniture in London. JOseph married EMILY TAYLOR who was born in Bristol and died at age 54. She was the headmistress of a large boarding school in England and family stories say she was related to Elizabeth Burton Taylor. Her parents were silk merchants in France, Huguenots, and settled in London.
Children - all went to boarding school in Devon: JOSEPH, GEORGE, ALBERT, EDWARD, CLARA, EMILY (died young)
JOSEPH - had a fleet of hansom cabs in London and married ELIZABETH FRANCES HONOR SCOTCHER. Her parents were greengrocers in Convent Garden, London. Joseph died of tetanus. Joseph and Elizabeth were legally separated. Their children were: ALICE (Florey), FLORENCE (Connellan), and ELIZABETH CLARE who was Born 1892 or 1893 in London, England. She trained in London as a milliner and married Denis Joseph Connellan (her brother-in-law) on March 23, 1918 in Rockhampton, Queensland, Australia.
Joseph and the children all came to Australia when his horses all died due to tetanus. No dates. Joseph lived and died in Gladstone, Queensland, Australia but I have no details of his entry point into Australia. Contact: Cheryl Turnbull
My name is Stephen Dodge, Dodgestephen@hotmail.com. I am now 34 years old born in Maidstone Kent in England my parent separated when I was very young and my father disappeared. I have 2 brothers and 2 sisters who know next to nothing about my fathers side of the family and I have always had a desire to trace my family tree. While looking I found your website and thought that you may be able to help trace any members of my distant / immediate family from my fathers side. Unfortunately as I was very young when my parents separated and my mother passed away several years ago, so I know almost nothing about my father except his name, Colin Dodge. I do not know if he is even still alive. I do remember that he has a sister who lived in Canada about 25 years ago but I am afraid that is all I know.
