Detective Newman Stone described as suicide today the death of Effingham N. Dodge, a graduate of Yale in 1906, who resigned last month as Passaic County Probation Officer after being charged with infraction of rules.
Mr. Dodge was found dead last night, Stone said, with his throat and wrists slashed and gas flowing from kitchen stove jets. A great-great-grandson of Captain Abraham Godwin, Revolutionary war hero, who settled in Paterson in 1755, Mr. Dodge was a member of the New York Bar and served in the United States Naval Intelligence Department during the World War. Unmarried, he lived alone.
Note: Effingham Nevins Dodge was the son of Frederick Nevins DODGE and Jeanie Godwin (Prall) DODGE
