Warren Alexander Dodge and his wife Jane Leach had 11 children. Three of them died at an early age. Nothing can be found on one other. This photo is of some of the surviving children as adults.
Back Row Standing:The children of Warren and Sara were:
1. Mary Rose Ann DODGE, b. 27 Feb 1848, Findley Lake and d. 19 Jun 1853, Findley LakeWarren Dodge injured his right hip and recieved rom the county of Chatauqua, New York, a sum of $8.00 a month for compensation. Some records say he died on the 20th of August, not on the 21st. He was in the Civil War, Company J. 9th Regiment , New York Calvary.
From all information that we have been able to gather from descendants of Warren, his middle name was 'Alexander', however, at least one record in New York lists him as a 'Warren p.' We believe that this is an error where the recorder misread and 'A' . See next paragraph
Warren p. Dodge, born in Ithica, NY, March 18, 1826, where he lived until twelve years of age, when he moved with his parents to Harborcreek, Erie County, Pennsylvania. There he lived until seventeen years of age, when he went to Findley's Lake, where he became acquainted with Jane Leach and was united in marriage with her on July 6, 1846. They lived in Findley's Lake and raised a family of eleven children, seven girls and four boys. The four boys and three of the girls survive him. When the country was in danger and called for volunteers, he left home and family to the care of Him who careth for all, and enlisted in Co. 1, 9th NY Calvary, where he served his time and re-enlisted and served his country two years more, participating in some of the worst battles, yet never leaving his post.
