Providence, Rhode Island
DFA member, Jim Bailey, did a lot of research before we arrived in Providence, RI, and acted as our tour guide. Because of volunteering his time in this area, we are able to have for you the following information

The Attleboro Dodges were related very closely to the Dodges in Providence, RI. Seril Dodge and his half brother, Nehemiah, were the inventors of gold plating, thus starting the costume jewelry industry in this country, but Seril Dodge was know also, for his clocks. He only made about one a year, but they were exceptionally well done and are considered something to be treasured by anyone who owns one.

For a more in depth story on the costume jewelry industry and the involvement of Seril and Nehemiah Dodge, be sure to click on The Providence Story, in the list below.

We have yet to establish with certainty whether Seril and Nehemiah were half brothers, or uncle and nephew. This is being researched by us.
