Harry Dodge and his Toy Soldier Shop

In the fall of 2003, Earl and Barbara Dodge visited Harry Dodge in his home in North Conway, NewHampshire
For years, Harry has made his own lead and molds and has an amazing array of lead soldiers in a small building he built behind his house. These photos are the ones I took that day. We were amazed! Harry made m any of his own molds and also was able to acquire molds from places that went out of business. He made his own lead also. In some cases he would use a brush with only 3 haris in order to paint in the eyes. You will also be anazed as you look at these photos. Be sure to click on each thumbnail in order to see the large photo.

The drive to the front door of Harry's house. Harry Dodge and his wife, Myrtle who died in 2006. Harry built his house many years ago. This is the area outside the back door. Earl Dodge sitting at the table in the house. Harry and his wife, Myrtle are standing
Harry built this building to house his hobby of making lead soldiers. He named it 'Toy Soldier Shop"
The first picture is of Harry is showing us how he makes the lead for his lead soldiers. The rest of the pictures on this page are various scenes of lead soldiers, all taken in the "Toy Shop"
The first 3 pictures below were painted in the 1800s by Fred Allen Dodge who was a great uncle of Harry's. They were beautiful and of course, these pictures do not do them justice. The last picture was taken in the back of Harry's yard. His house and property abut Mount Washington National Park.
