What was the Mexican War? Read about it.

John Dodge of Middle Chinnock, Somerset, England, was the father of William and Richard who came to America in 1629 and 1638, respectively. They settled in what is now, Salem, Massachusetts.
Tristram Dodge came to Block Island, Rhode Island in 1660/61. He came from England, via Newfoundland, via Taunton, Massachusetts. We believe that his ancestors were came from Northern England

Augustus ws the son of Erastus Dodge and Melissa Morgan and the husband of Sarah Yulley

Served in Co. D of the 3rd Regiment of the Mounted Missouri Volunteers under Capt. G. deKorponay
George was the son of Israel Dodge and Marie Louisa Bequette
Lineage - through Tristram Dodge of Block Island
Henry Lafayette Dodge; Born: 01 April 1810 Missouri; Died: 15 November 1856 New Mexico
Served in Co. A in the Santa Fe Battalion of the Mounted Volunteers
Henry was the son of Moses Henry Dodge and Christiana McDonald and the husband of Adele Bequette.
Note: He was burned at the stake by Apache Indians in Arizona
Lineage - through Tristram Dodge of Block Island
Israel F. Dodge; Born: 01 November 1824 Missouri; Died: 1868 Missouri
Served in Co. F in the 2nd Regiment of the Missouri Mounted Volunteers
Israel was the son of Israel Dodge and Marie Louisa Beguette and the husband of Mary E. Hollenbeck.
Lineage - John Dodge of Middle Chinnock through Richard
Richard Dodge of Jericho, Vermont served in the Army as a Private. DOE 15 Apr 1846, Company D. 9th US Reg. Infantry (9th New England Regiment) and mustered out 2 Aug. 1848.
Richard was wounded three times in three different engagements; gunshot, bayonet thrust, and sabre cut.
Richard went on in later years to serve in the Civil War.
Richard's parents were Jared Dodge and Naomi Olcott.
