John Dodge of Middle Chinnock, Somerset, England, was the father of William and Richard who came to America in 1629 and 1638, respectively. They settled in what is now, Salem, Massachusetts.
Tristram Dodge came to Block Island, Rhode Island in 1660/61. He came from England, via Newfoundland, via Taunton, Massachusetts. We believe that his ancestors were came from Northern England

Service Record: Enlisted as a Corporal on 12 September 1861 in the Union Army, Company F, 10th Infantry Regiment Wisconsin
Killed Company F, 10th Infantry Regiment Wisconsin on 08 October 1862 in Perryville, KY in the battle of Chaplain Hills.
Abraham was the son of John Dodge, MD and Mehitable Mosher.

Addison Seaver Dodge, b. 5 June 1837, Wenham, Essex Co., Massachusetts and d. 10/01/1863 on Morris Island, South Carolina.

Son of Adoniram Judson Dodge and Julia A. Perley

Albert F. Dodge, born 1832 New York; Enlisted 30 Sept 1861 in 2nd Cavalry, Company H, Commerce, Michigan.
He died of disease in Hamburg, Tennessee, May 14, 1862
Albert was the husband of Jane and father of Ellen and William.
He was the son of Franklin and Mary Dodge. Note: Franklin Dodge was born in Ireland.

Service Record: Enlisted as a Private on 18 May 1861.
Enlisted in Company H, 4th Cavalry Regiment Wisconsin on 18 May 1861.
Killed Company H, 4th Cavalry Regiment Wisconsin on 13 Apr 1863 at Bisland, LA.

Service Record: Enlisted as a Private on 06 December 1861 at the age of 26
Enlisted in Company A, 15th Infantry Regiment Maine on 06 December 1861, Union Army
Discharged Company A, 15th Infantry Regiment Maine on 15 June 1863
He died of Thyphoid Fever, after discharge but was still in New Orleans.
Alfred was the son of Joshua Warren Dodge and Jane Shaw.

Lineage - John Dodge, Middle Chinnock, England, through Richard
Alonzo M. Dodge, born 1844/45 in Orland, Hancock Maine . He enlisted 11 Oct 1862 in Orland, Maine, Co. H, 26th Regiment, Maine Infantry. He died 17 Dec 1862 in Quartantine Hospital, Mississipi River. His parents claimed a Civil War Pension under his name. His brother, Everett, died in 1867 at the young age of 23 yrs, most probably from wounds received in the war.
Alonzo and Everett share a tombstone, and beneath their names is written:
Sleep noble warriors sleep
the tomb is now your bed
cold on its bosom you rest
in silence with the dead
"What is life?"
Alonzo M. and Everett were the sons of Elias H. Dodge and Susan, a Native American whose Indian name was 'Winkumpaugh'.
A descendant of Alonzo and Everett, Rob Moody fought in the Vietnam War.

Alonzo was the son of Hiram Dodge and Ruth Tobey.
Lineage - John Dodge, Middle Chinnock, England, through William
Alonzo W. Dodge, was born 1840 in Troy, Waldo Maine . He enlisted 19 October 1861 in Illinois, Co. B, 58th Regiment, Illinois Infantry. He died 30 Apr 1862 in Tuscaloosa Confederate Prison.
Alonzo W. was the son of Israel Woodbury Dodge and Martha S. McAllister.
Lineage - John Dodge, Middle Chinnock, England, through Richard
Artemus Dodge, Age, 27 years. Enlisted, December 3, 1861, at Cortland, to serve three years; mustered in as private, Co. G, December 4, 1861; killed in action, August 28, 1862, at Gainesville, Va. Mother's pension application on file in National Archives. Brother of Elias Dodge, 23rd NY who did not die in this war and thus is listed in the section "Those who fought and came home" Artemus was the son of Artemus Dodge (born 1796/7) and Nancy Wattles(?).
Lineage - Although we do not know the parentage of Artemus, through DNA of a descendent, we know that he descended from Richard
Artemus T. Dodge, b. 1833, New York, d.Mar 15, 1863, Millikins Bend, Louisianna. Died in camp of chronic diarrhea and dropsy contracted while on duty at Chickasaw Bluffs, Mississippi on or about January, 1863. Private, Company 'E', 23rd Regiment, Wisconsin Infantry Volunteers was his regiment and in all probability he took part in the battle of Vicksburg. Statement from Adjutant General's Office acknowledgement of receipt of application for pension states: January 11/63. Retreated from Vicksburg up the Mississippi river January 13/63 Took part in the capture of Arkansas Post January 18/63 Re-embarked on boat transport. dropped to the mouth of White River. January 21/63 the fleet started down the Mississippi River landing at Young's Point Louisiana January 25/63 dis-embarked and encamped before Vicksburg March/63 Co was stationed at Youngs Point and Millikins Bend. When Artemus died, he left a wife, Euphemia Hamlin Dodge, and five young children: Harriet Amelia, Mary Salonea, Truman Gardner, John Artemas, and Julia.

Died of disease Company C, 5th Infantry Regiment New Hampshire on 4 Sep 1862.
Azero was the son of Joshua Dodge and Hannah Read.
