Dr. Roderich Lathrop Dodge was born 7 Sept, 1808, Hartland. VT, and
married Eliza Bradshaw. He was educated at Dartmouth and Philadelphia
Medical School, and served as an Army surgeon at Forts Coffee and Smith.
These forts were on the borders of Arkansas and Oklahoma, directly south
of Kansas City. I believe Dr. Dodge moved to Little Rock in 1842, at age
34. In Little Rock he practiced medicine and started a drug business.
Later, he engaged in private banking, was involved with the start-up of
the electric company, and was ?...called on to be alderman, and then
Mayor of Little Rock.? (from a family held newspaper clipping announcing
his death)
