#1. This is a small cemetery toward the south end of the island, tucked back
among some trees on one site and open land on the other. Several graves
are in an area surrounded by a stone wall. There was only one Dodge
Gravestone there that I could see. That of John R. Dodge..
Note: John's wife and others of John's family are buried here. Both of his daughters, Margaret who married Caleb Littlefield Rose, and Rosina, who married Montgomery Rose, are buried in this cemetery along with their husbands and several of their children..
#2. SACRED
To the memory of
John R Dodge
Who died Sept. 5,
1874
Aged 66 years, 1 mo
and 29 days
The verse below is 4 lines but can't be seen clearly enough to read. It
appears to be poetry.
Note: This John R. Dodge was the son of Robert Chitty Dodge and Hannah Rose. Cause of death listed as "Strangury and General Dropsy". The information we have is that this cemetery is the John. R. Dodge cemetery.
