GENEVA - Melford G. Dodge, 80, of Grant St., Geneva, died Sunday, May 9, 2004, at Cleveland Metro Hospital in Cleveland.

He was born Oct. 22, 1923, in Geneva, the son of George and Gladys Dodge, and had been a lifetime area resident.

He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army in the European Theater of Operations.

He was employed with True Temper in Geneva until his retirement and he was a member of the American Legion in Geneva.

His hobbies were gardening and fishing, and he was a sports fan, especially a fan of the Indians and Browns.

Surviving him are his son, Danny (Linda) Dodge of Long Beach, CA; two daughters, Mary Wakim of Kingsville, and Becky (Bill) Sawyers of Geneva; six grandchildren, Nicole, Mandy, Michael, Adam, Wendy and Jill; four great-grandchildren, Madison, Isabella, Katie and Taylor; and a sister, Corrine Bancroft of Geneva.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Evelyn M. Dodge, in 1993; a daughter, Kay Dahl, in 1998; and a sister, Rachel Wright.

Funeral services will be Thursday, May 13, 2004, at 11 a.m. at the KENNEDY-BILLMAN FUNERAL HOME, 323 S. Broadway, Geneva, with Rev. Robert Cunningham of The United Church of Geneva officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.

Calling hours will be Wednesday, May 12, 2004, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
