John Dodge of Middle Chinnock, Somerset, England, was the father of William and Richard who came to America in 1629 and 1638, respectively. They settled in what is now, Salem, Massachusetts. Tristram Dodge came to Block Island, Rhode Island in 1660/61. He came from England, via Newfoundland, via Massachusetts.

U.S. Army; Served In The Guadalcanal Campaign. He was wounded in action at Guadalcanal November 21,1942. A day before is birthday. Wounded in six places from a mortar explosion. Loss of thumb on right hand. Sustained Permanently Disabling Injuries .

born 1914, Indiana and died 1988. He was a 1st Lt in the US Army World War II. His brother, Merrill, served in WWI.
His brother Sidney served in WWII, and a nephew, (we believe), Elmo, served in Vietnam.
Merrill, Robert, and Sidney were the sons of Hiram A. Dodge and Emma Jean Cleaver.
If we are correct in our thinking, Elmo A. Dodge would have been the son of Elmo Dodge, and thus a grandson of Hiram A. Dodge and Emma Jean Cleaver.

Robert Oliver Dodge
was b.: 6 Jan 1923, South Dakota and d. 14 Nov 2005, Portland, Multnomah Co., Oregon
Robert joined the Army Air Corps in 1943. Flew 92 missions in WWII. Received 24 combat decorations including the Air Medal, Distinguished Flying Cross, Presidential Citation and the from Antioch College in Ohio as a civil engineer.
He worked from 1949 to 1980 in the Army Corps of Engineeers in Portland Oregon and taught mathematics in evening school at Portland State University from 1949- 1971.
From May 1980 to May 2003 he worked for the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife as a structural engineer. The above reported from his obit in the Oregonian newspaper Nov 27, 2005.
Robert's wife, Betty Jeanne Dodge also served Robert was the son of Allie Dodge and Bessie June MCKINNEY Dodge.

Stationed In a Variety Of Locations Moving With The Troops From Landing On Utah Beach Through France, Belgium, Holland And Into Germany And Austria. Served With The Military Police, Had Multiple Duties In The Combat Zone Including Traffic Control And Bridge Guard; Guarded Vital Installations As Well As Temporary Duty Handling The Prisoners Of War. Earned Many Honors And Decorations Including The Good Conduct Medal, Victory Medal, American Defense Service Medal, Army Of Occupation Ribbon, Among Others.
Robert was the son of Alton Tolman Dodge and Edith P. Upham. .

Rolland Dale Dodge
was born Aug. 11, 1917, in Oacoma, S.D. In 1943, Mr. Dodge entered the service and participated in one of the first assaults on Iwo Jima, during World War II. He received a Bronze Star for bravery and heroic deeds. He was also a medic and pharmacist first mate.

was b. Nov. 10, 1901, Watsonville, Santa Cruz Co., California and d. Sept. 21, 1981, Santa Cruz, Santa Cruz Co., California.
He enlisted in the US Army on 19 Jul 1942. Army Serial Number #39096248 at San Francisco, California, Private: Honorable discharge papers from the US Army issued 5 July 1943.
His brother, Ira Roswell Dodge, was 9 years older than Roy, and he fought in WW I.
Roy and Ira were the sons of Roy Hood Dodge and Etta Mae Dehart
Roys adopted son, John C. Dodge, also fought in WWII.

BG US ARMY VETERAN SERVICE DATES: 07/30/1938 - 09/30/1967
U.S. Army; Commander Of The 308th Combat Engineer Battalion, 83rd Infantry Division. Landed At Normandy Beach On June 23, 1944 And Immediately Pushed Toward Brittany, Capturing The Port Cities Of St. Malo And Dinard. Moved South To The Loire River And Later Held The Right Toward Luxembourg. At The Battle Of The Bulge, The 83rd Drove Toward Bastogne From The North. Soon After They Crossed The Rhine River And Drove Toward The Elbe River. Near The Town Of Barby, Headed Construction Of The First Operational Bridge Across The Elbe (Later Nicknamed The Truman Bridge) Just 30 Miles From Berlin. During The War, Unit Was Primarily Responsible For Building Bridges And Roads, Clearing Minefields And Producing Maps. Retired At The Rank Of Brigadier General On October 1, 1967.
