John Dodge of Middle Chinnock, Somerset, England, was the father of William and Richard who came to America in 1629 and 1638, respectively. They settled in what is now, Salem, Massachusetts.
Tristram Dodge came to Block Island, Rhode Island in 1660/61. He came from England, via Newfoundland, via Taunton, Massachusetts. We believe that his ancestors were came from Northern England

Caleb Dodge (1726-1812) was a Private in Capt. Samuel Cook's company, Col. Woodbridge's regiment of Massachusetts troops, 1777. He was born in Boston, Massachusetts; died in Belchertown, Massachusetts.
He was the son of Joshua Dodge and Elizabeth Clough.
Caleb's g. g. grandson, Horace O. Dodge, fought in the Civil War.

John Mansfield's regt.; muster roll dated Aug. 1, 1775; enlisted May 4, 1775; service, 8 mos. 5 days; also, Capt. Francis's co., Col. Mansfield's (19th) regt. commanded by Lieut. Col. Israel Hutchinson; company return dated Oct. 6, 1775; also, order for bounty coat or its equivalent in money dated Winter Hill, Oct. 26, 1775; also, Capt. John Gay's co., Col. Ebenezer Francis's regt.; pay abstract for travel allowance to and from camp, etc., sworn to Nov. 29, 1776; credited with 2 days allowance; company drafted from Roxbury, Dedham, Needham, Medfield, Wrentham, Walpole, Medway, Bellingham, Beverly, Danvers, Middleton, and Manchester.
