John Dodge of Middle Chinnock, Somerset, England, was the father of William and Richard who came to America in 1629 and 1638, respectively. They settled in what is now, Salem, Massachusetts. Tristram Dodge came to Block Island, Rhode Island in 1660/61. He came from England, via Newfoundland, via Taunton, Massachusetts. We believe that his ancestors were came from Northern England |
Lineage - John Dodge, Middle Chinnock, England through Richard Mark Dodge (1743-1824) served as corporal in Capt. Nathaniel Healy's company of minute men, Col. Ebenezer Larned's regiment at the Lexington Alarm, serving in the same company, 1777, in Col. Jonathan Holman's regiment. His brother Andrew also served. Mark was the son of Daniel Dodge and Elizabeth Brown. |
Lineage - John Dodge, Middle Chinnock, England through Richard Moses Dodge (1762-1826) served as Private in Captain Lamb's company, Col. Nathaniel Wade's Massachusetts regiment. He was born in Sutton, Massachusetts; died in Charlton, Massachusetts. Moses was the son of Moses Tyler Dodge and Lydia Gibbs. |
